Cover Song Saturday Night

Welcome friends to another Cover Song Saturday Night. I was trying to find some songs that would tie back to our inaugural Guilty Pleasures Friday Night but I wasn't extremely successful. I hope you enjoy these tunes anyway.

First up we have Jason Lytle doing a nice version of "I Need You" by America. Jason is the lead singer of the now defunct band, Grandaddy.

Next up for the Bread lovers out there I have another of my favorite bands, My Morning Jacket, doing "I Wanna Make It With You..."

Now we have Stevie Wonder doing a funkier version of the "We've Only Just Begun" by the Carpenters.

It is with great sadness that I report to Dave that I was unable to find any good Spice Girl covers by reputable bands. This cover of "Hit Me Baby One More Time" by the always classy Travis will have to do.

And lastly for the requisite Beatles cover I have little Annyong performing "Hey Jude." If I could ever find this cool little kid I would adopt him.

Suprisingly, "Hit Me Baby One More Time" doesn't suck nearly as bad as I thought it would.

I'm a little surprised to find it here, though, since it is a Brit Spears song and no less then four Britney Spears songs appear on the Kidz Bop albums (according to the fountain of knowledge known as Wikipedia.)

Anyway, another great post by the Skogster.

I don't have anything witty or snide to say here...that little Annyong is the cutest thing ever and I am doubled over laughing out loud. Oh, and Stevie Wonder sucks. Sorry everyone...he does nothing for me. It's a good thing my husband is out of town because he would put me in a choke hold for saying that.

Robb - I agree with your assesment that "Hit Me Baby" is actually a pretty catchy number when performed by someone with talent. I also have a cover version by Fountains of Wayne. Maybe that will make it next week.

Corbie - the only time "sucks" and "Steve Wonder" should be in the same sentence is "It sucks that I have to miss the Stevie Wonder concert since I decided to see Dwight Yoakam instead."

I kinda agree with corbie regarding Stevie in the fact that he doesn't do it for me... "sucks" is where I draw the line. The Suck Cut certainly does suck, Stevie is talented but not my feel good.

Hit Me Baby was great.

Annyong gets my vote in Asia's Got Talent regardless of what Jackie Chan will say about him.

But my thanks to kg for My Morning Jacket covering Bread. I'm trying to order some of the actual Weiss Family White Bread on ebay that JJ signed himself supposedly. $174.50 plus shipping is a steal for rock history.
