If Lovin' "X" is Wrong Than I Don't Wanna Be Right...

Most people love the television show The Office, myself included. Wheels and I were fans of the original British series and have loved the American version as much or more than the BBC version. I don't feel like I'm going out on a limb though by saying that towards the end of the last season it had started to lose its fastball and had been surpassed by 30 Rock as the best comedy on network TV but it was still better than 98% of anything else on TV.

Wheels and I watched the Season Premiere last week with great anticipation. Because of the writers' strike there had not been anything good on TV for several months. We were excited enough that we nearly watched it live rather than TIVO delayed, commercials be damned. We chuckled a few times at Creed (as always) and Kelly's "Mike Skousen" flush detox diet. We laughed as Phyllis talked about her juggs and generally enjoyed the episode. However, it just wasn't quite up to its normal standards. Something was a bit off. As it ended I turned to Wheels and said, "I'm not gonna lie, I enjoyed the Chuck premiere more than that."

That's right. Chuck. I am here to say tonight (a day late, I apologize) that I love Chuck. For those of you who aren't familiar with the premise: Chuck is a smart guy who was kicked out of Stanford for supposedly cheating and now works at a fictional Best Buy store as an IT guy (think the Geek Squad.) His old college roommate, who just happens to be a super spy, sends Chuck an email that upon reading downloads years of government secrets into Chuck's brain making him a government secret weapon/spy as well. Sounds ridiculous? It is. But it is very tongue in cheek and gosh Wheels and I love Chuck. When I say 'Wheels and I love Chuck' I'm not just talking about the show. We both have a crush on Zachary Levi who plays the title character. I defy you to find a more charming leading man currently on television. I'm also quite fond of his partner the little blonde number in the above picture. Some well respected Skog Blog commenters such as AB and Kim like to mock Wheels and I and frequently ask us if we finish up Chuck and then fire up According to Jim and Two and A Half Men. Well all I'm saying is there are worse ways to kill an hour than Chuck and if loving it is wrong than I don't wanna be right.

Note: Chuck can be seen Monday Nights on NBC at 7 pm. The Skog Blog is not employed by NBC and has never received compensation for endorsing Chuck.

'I defy you to find a more charming leading man currently on television.' - I take your challenge and nominate Patrick Dempsey, Grey's Anatomy. He wins the prize. I know it is dang near a cliche, but sometimes things are popular for a reason. And yes, I loved him when he was Donald/Ronald Miller too. And no, that was not my confessional.

Here it is - I have actually written to ABC and petitioned them to bring back a show that had a brief run called October Road. As in, not only have I gone to the message boards to post idle threats to the producers, I have physically typed letters and mailed them off to ABC. I still check sporadically to see if my efforts have yielded any results. You don't know what this show even is, do you? Well, apparently you are not alone - I guess no one watched it but me. Maybe things aren't popular for good reason too - but I loved this show more than a fat kid loves cake. Mostly, I loved the character Eddie Latekka, played by Geoff Stults. Don't know him? You should go to the ABC site and watch the old episodes - I still do.

Patrick Dempsey? I just don't get it. I really don't. And readers of the Skog Blog know that I'm not afraid to declare my man love for dudes.

However, nice work on the ABC threat letters. I have always wondered who actually takes the time to mail strongly worded letters to a network to save a show. Now I know. Well done.

Corbie of all people should know I don't pick up on hints. I have to be told directly. I had no idea she was into McDreamy. It doesn't change things between us, but I'm a little disappointed.

Linds - well said. You summed up my disappointed feelings as well. Now just tell me have a thing also for Chuck and you and Spammon will be Wheels and I's new best friends.

YOU are disappointed, Lindsey? Lover of Josh Hartnett and Ashton Kutcher? And YOU are disappointed, Kirk? Lover of Jessica Simpson? Well, I really need to increase my respectability factor then.

And, Lindsey, don't get too excited - the 'best friend' title never results in you actually meeting Wheels. All talk, no action.

Kg - I've never watched Chuck, but I like the previews. I'll have to tune in.

Corbie - Ouch. I'm striking out today.

lindsey said...

Oh and I've never given anyone the "best friend" title... and kg uses it so carelessly.

Corbie said...

OUCH? You mocked Earl Thomas Conley AND Patrick Dempsey in one day. It is I who needs the anesthetic.

That's it, I'm going to take a picture of myself 'whispering in the mirror' and we'll see who can hold the laughs in.

Plus, I at least give a positive and a negative on my music critiques... Whoah-oh! Mean is the color of your engery.

Are we not friends, Lindsey? Cuz I need to know how actively I should be pursuiting Wheels.

Corbie said...

Oh, and I still haven't seen any confessions from you here - I at least risked public humiliation for the sake of my good friend, Kirt.

Corbie- I think you're the best, in every way. Maybe it's new Lindsey that you don't like. She is sort of a ho.

If you want a confession... I ate cat food in my youth.

I ate cat food too. The hard stuff not the canned. My buddy Jon Morrey and I thought it gave us super powers.

kg - I ate the hard stuff too, there was no way I was trying canned. If anything it provides fiber.

Listen, I would like to top the cat food confessional but anything I offer up to top that will not be appropriate for a public blog. You guys win this week's round. I'll be back next week with something good.
