Cover Song Saturday Night

Wheels has been out of town all weekend. As I write this Sweet Pea and myself are enjoying the Jungle Book so here is a little Louis Armstrong performing "Bare Necessities."

I still haven't come down from my Ben Folds Five high so here's them doing a cover of the Flaming Lips classic, "She Don't Use Jelly." This was recorded about 10 years ago and gives you a good idea of what they looked like and why Flanksteak commented that they haven't aged well...

My friend over at Random Musings has waged an epic battle the past few weeks coming up with an all time top ten list of favorite songs. In honor of her struggle here are a few covers:

Robert Plant singing "If I Were A Carpenter"

Smashing Pumpkins' version of "Landslide" - I have no idea what the crap is going on in this video just enjoy the tune.

And finally to bring our mellow Saturday Night to a close here is Toad the Wet Sprocket doing a slowed down rendition of the Kiss anthem "Rock and Roll All Nite."

Robert Plant is amazing - even with the wife beater shirt and the eye-rolling like he is bored with what he is doing.

The video of Landslide looks like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie.

Still, you may have accomplished the impossible and gotten me to like a Kiss song other than 'Beth' (sung by another band, of course, but still...). Robert will send cash.

Off topic, but did you already get your tickets to Neil Diamond?

Corbie said...

I did! And I got extras so you sould go, Spammy.

Corbie said...

And by 'sould' I meant 'could' but I am typing it on this stupid phone that you keep telling me I will eventually figure out, Spammon.

Spammon, Just be prepared to sell your boy in order to pay for the tix. Good gosh. I know the Sequin Shirts are expensive but come on.

Spammon said...

corbie - That's another artist me and Lindsey disagree on. Neil is the man. Lindsey hates him.

kg - And just exactly what are the ticket prices? Are they cheaper if I bring some womens panties?

Lindsey hates Neil and yet Spammon married her and Corbie swears by her friendship? She must have been pretty cool to trump the anti-Neil card.

And tix - for the best seats it was $120 + $20 'convenience fee' (thanks for being so convenient Ticketmaster.)

Lindsey loves Ryan (an impossible task for anyone but Ryan's own mother), she puts up with my personality (an equally difficult feat), and she is the only person my age I have found to knit with me. Her Neil Diamond dislike is a small price to pay.

I threw in a pair of panties and got mine for half, Spammon.

Wow you girls tie dye AND knit? Please let me be invited to the next Spammon/Corbie family party. Sounds unbelievably exciting!

It is exciting - you forgot the panties.

And there goes your softball teams matching t-shirts and scarves. You'll regret that someday.

I NEVER said HATE. I said he reminds me of cheesy old people music.

And, I never like to admit crap like this to Ammon... I sometimes turn Neil on and sing along, while Ammon's at work of course. :)

Corbie said...

Lindsey - you might to learn the inner workings of the Skog Blog. That admission belongs under the Friday Night Confessional posting - 'If Loving X Is Wrong, I Don't Wanna Be Right'. You know the phrase - there is an ecard to this effect that we both love.

Gosh can't the owner of The Skog Blog post rules for newbie's up or something? He is the Soup Nazi of the blogging world.

Corbie said...

Actually, he is pretty nice - I am the Nazi of his site apparently. Sorry - confess wherever you want. You have plenty to confess - I've seen your list of 5 love interests.

lindsey said...

You've been around Ammon too long. I actually don't like to confess anymore, people start "feeling" crazy things and making accusations.

Lindsey - welcome. The only rule of the Skog Blog is there are no rules... Sorry that was lame but I have always wanted to say it. Actually there is one rule - no Kidz Bop. Other than that, knock yourself out. I think Corbie just wanted you to read the comments under this past week's Fri Nite confessional because she was looking for validation on her cliched McDreamy lovin.
